I am running boinc 8.0.4 on Ubuntu 24.10 with Raspberry Pi 5 I notice recently that the suspend when computer is in use is not working. Boinc will keep running even when I have mouse movement. The folllowing is a screenshot. https://photos.app.goo.gl/3JDtqGAnGyRHFHhQ8 Can someone please teach me how to add a photo in this message board. |

Can someone please teach me how to add a photo in this message board. Quite simple - enclose the picture's URL by [ img] and {/ img] (no spaces inside the square brackets. doing so your image should appear thus: (edit to add - some image sharing websites don't allow the sort of linking that BOINC uses) |

For the type of things I use Google for (Google Photo for back up), I think the image will stay until you delete it, so any links will be valid until then. But I tend not to share links to images; in practice I tend to "directly" share the image itself, so of course I don't know if links have an expiration. NOTE: Your image is showing up, so that part is working so far. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/ ![]() |

As a BOINC user. My opinion is that it was working and all of a sudden it fail to work. And need to wait for a fix in the upcoming release. It would be better if the change is transparent to the user. |

In reply to fckwan's message of 24 Apr 2025: As a BOINC user. My opinion is that it was working and all of a sudden it fail to work. And need to wait for a fix in the upcoming release. There was no obvious change. But if you run BOINC client from your user - then client has possibility to track some activity of your user (obviously). But when BOINC client installed and running as a daemon, it runs from the different user ('boinc' in this case) that is very limited and obviously cannot detect activity of any other user (including yours), so nothing works. In the PR I mentioned above, this is fixed by providing a separate from BOINC client process that will track activity of all users on the machine, but should be installed separately. All the details (including the installation instruction) will be announced right after it released. BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |
