The title says it all. I apologize in advance. I am not sharpest tool when it comes to computers. I do enjoy BOINC but my understanding, and usage, is rather basic. For the past 2 months, I have had trouble using BOINC. The only project that I use is the World Community Grid. Both my old and new computer don't run anything when I try getting tasks, etc. I even did a clean install of my entire computer. The problem remains. BOINC and World Community Grid are unresponsive. I did see a notice on the BOINC page reading ". . . there will be no new tasks at least until the end of February." Does that mean all of BOINC is down until then? Or is it only for a select few programs? Or am I doing something wrong? Here are my hardware and software stats: Mint 22.1 - Mate 1.26.2 i3 cpu 540 at 3.07ghz CPU - 4 - Thread(s) per core: 2 - Core(s) per socket: 2 4gb ram BOINC 7.24.1+dfsg-4build1 (it won't launch even if I click on it in the MATE menu) I did ensure that the groups BOINC and Whore (my Mint account) are check marked in Mint's "Users and Groups" and yes, my Mint account is sudo, if that matters. Even if BOINC server is down, then the program should still launch from my desktop if I click "Launch". Correct? I am stuck and appreciate any help. Thank you. |

BOINC by itself won't do anything, it'll require you to add projects, and those projects require to have the correct science applications for your operating system, and to have work for those science applications. If you're using Science United, make sure that the projects it has presently added have work. |

WCG has work at the moment, both mapping cancer markers and Africa rainfall project. The latter is a bit on and off and you will be limited by RAM as to the number of tasks you can run. |
