I'm new to this Linux thing and am trying to use a Raspberry Pi 5 using Ubuntu 24.10 to do BOINC processes. The RasPi 5 is working as is Ubuntu and BOINC for Linux installed. But, BOINC won't start.

I get

18-Jan-2025 17:26:08 [---] Setting up GUI RPC socket
18-Jan-2025 17:26:37 [---] GUI RPC bind to port 31416 failed: 98
18-Jan-2025 17:26:38 gstate.init() failed
Error Code: -180

when run. This was installed from the installation script on this web site.

Assistance would be appreciated,
Turner

Problem with rpc and/or port availability. Check that the password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg is good. Check that port 31416 is open in your firewall and that no other program is already using that port. Try starting the client directly in the Boinc directory via the terminal to see all the messages the client prints out before the error message.
