Please know that this survey is run by an independent 3rd party, The Science Commons Initiative. The Science Commons Initiative is not officially supported by, or part of BOINC, and this census isn't initiated by BOINC. We do not know what happens with all information you give. It will not be used to make BOINC better. |

Here are past results. They may not have made BOINC better, but they do contain some interesting information to some of the most benign questions ever devised. https://thesciencecommons.org/BOINC/Census/2022/ https://thesciencecommons.org/BOINC/Census/2023/ |

SCI gets some weirdly hostile responses from some folks in the BOINC community for reasons I don't fully understand. Their work has been to improve and promote BOINC and their board is comprised of long-time BOINC crunchers. They have put money towards developing BOINC promo materials and bounties for bugfixes. I was on the board last year, all the folks involved are passionate about BOINC and volunteer computing. And they are currently sitting on a not insignificant amount of money which could be applied to BOINC's development if the right development project came along and somebody had the energy to supervise such an project. If anybody here is interested in doing that, I encourage you to get in touch w them. The census survey results are posted publicly for the benefit of the BOINC devs, community, and project admins. |
