Just updated to the new version and the problem still exists. Everything is fine with fresh installations, then after a week or so they become stale and you can't access anything on the phone. I can only get to them with Boinctasks. The phone just shows the Boinc logo on a white screen and no interaction is possible. Happens on two completely different phones. However it's running the tasks just fine, I can see them in Boinctasks. Restart doesn't help.

Samsung A10 (Android 11) and Motorola G31 (Android 12).

Sounds like you phones are possibly overloading / overheating the CPU and/or battery.

BOINC should not run on more than 1/2 of total cores on Android to prevent overloading / overheating the phone.

1) How many cores / tasks are you allowing to run at one time versus how many physical cores on each phone?

2) Can you see what is in the BOINC event / error logs on the phones or through BoincTask?

They do not overheat, Boinc has a battery temperature limit anyway. They get no warmer than me playing a game with the screen on. Boinc doesn't turn the screen on, which makes up for the extra CPU heat.

I use all the cores, it doesn't cause a problem. And I don't believe it causes this, since it happens after starting Boinc with a cold phone. I also don't believe a phone has no overheat protection, it certainly never breaks or crashes it.

I can't access any logs on the phone, and I'm useless accessing Android file systems, I think it's locked away anyway.

I can access the event log using Boinctasks, but I've never seen anything bad in there, do I need to turn on debugging? If so, I'd need access to Boinc to do so!

I had this issue awhile ago on a different device; someone asked (in message 88537) "Did you try holding down on the BOINC logo to see if the event log and/or GUI log have any messages indicating what happened?"

Wow, how was I supposed to think of holding onto a logo?

Yes I get a log, but just the usual preferences, server communication, and suspending while screen on being listed. that's in the client messages, the gui messages is empty.
