I have following entries in the log:

9/18/2021 4:50:47 PM | Rosetta@home | Finished download of AIMNet_vm_v2.vdi
and
9/18/2021 4:53:14 PM | Rosetta@home | [error] MD5 check failed for AIMNet_vm_v2.vdi
9/18/2021 4:53:14 PM | Rosetta@home | [error] expected d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e, got 61fef19456bb58ec941845ef08d8c5ef
9/18/2021 4:53:14 PM | Rosetta@home | [error] Checksum or signature error for AIMNet_vm_v2.vdi

Is this a known error and is there a workaround/solution.

OS: Windows Server 2016

You are downloading work from a project server, you are getting the error from their server. It's nothing that BOINC can do something about or has a workaround for, you'll have to check if it's something the project knows about. Looking at the Rosetta forums, I find someone else reporting the same error, so you'll have to wait until Rosetta fixes things.
