Hi all, I have just upgraded the Mgr from 4.5 to 5.2.2, and - surprise, surprise - the HIDE command in the FILE menu is no longer available. Only FILE-EXIT and FILE-SELECT COMPUTER remains Am I the only one who lost this feature or is there anyone else having the problem? |

the HIDE command in the FILE menu is no longer available. Use the red "X" in the upper-right corner... |

I guess I should have thought about that....Thanks for making me feel ashamed... LOL! No, but you are not the first to ask, and certainly won't be the last, so maybe someone else can get the answer here. And it's not an "obviously obvious" answer, as that "X" would NORMALLY stop whatever is running, if we were talking about a single application. It's the fact that BOINC Manager is one application (that just shows what's going on) and the project science apps and the BOINC daemon are totally separate, that allows you to just "quit" the Manager without affecting everything else. Having an icon in the taskbar for the daemon makes it simple to re-launch the Manager. This is NOT true for some installs on some platforms; in the "full GUI" install on Mac, for example, quitting the Manager quits everything. "Hide" is still available there. |

And copy messages to clipboard STILL does not work ... :( One of the problems of doing cross-platform work. It is extrodinarily hard to make everything work, and work the same across multiple CPU types and OSs. |

On windows versions of Boinc Manager you can double click on the "B" symbol in the upper left corner for hide mode. That feature has been there since many versions ago. I remember this because I suggested for BoincView to make his program have the same function, which he did. It seems the Red "X" does the same on both, but I usually think of that as eXit so never use it, anyway my mouse has a thumb button which for me is double click so its real easy. |
