It would be nice to be able to modify this from the gui rather than having to edit cc_config.xml The background is that I crunch for CPDN both main site and testing. Large amounts of data from current model types have filled up their servers. Data is currently being transferred to free up space but everyone is still getting messages in the event log indicating that things are still jammed up. Unless I reduce the maximum number of uploads from the defaults of 8 total and 2/project four uploads of between 105 and 126MB each can mean it will take over two hours till I know whether an upload is going to be rejected at 100% or not. Alternatively, is there a way for the BOINC server to automatically tell BOINC clients not to bother because the server is full? Edit:Probably of academic interest to those with fast connections. |

Thinking about this further, is there any advantage to transferring more than one file at a time? perhaps BOINC should make the default just the one? |

There are a number of advantages, a couple are: When the computer completes a number of tasks between each call for data, thus has a number of files to transfer in each direction - If one file stalls for whatever reason others will continue, whereas if a single transfer stalls and nothing else will move until that one either fully times out or completes; Multiple transfers can better occupy the available total bandwidth, thus although individual rates may be lower the overall rate is higher; |

Thank you, I probably should have thought of that. |
