Is there a way to do a shared installation so that several machines could utilize a network share for the work units? Computers A,B, and C could dip into the available work pool for units that need done, A could finish partially completed results that C started, etc...This would also save on disk space overall..... Feel free to move the thread if it's in the wrong spot! |

No, all computers download their own work units into their own cache. Unlike Classic where it didn't matter which computer ran which unit - giving the option for one computer to re-run the unit 67 times without a problem, in Boinc's version of Seti (and all other projects) the work unit is registered to the computer that downloaded it. That same computer must also upload it. So a dipping pool cache is not possible. |
