Sorry to bother you all with this question, but it seems that my boinc works only in an overcommittments state. Ok, my 'puter is not the fastest one: P4 1.8Ghz, 1GB Ram, 80 + 80 + 300Gb HDD, XP SP2. But i'm in a dozen of programs, and Boinc starts to download Wu's until it is overcommitted and pass to "earliest-deadline-first scheduling". When it finished a WU, return in normal state and try to download another WU... going again in overcommitted mode... and so on In this way i can't crunch some WUs with a long deadline (CPDN has 10/03/2008) any idea on how to fix it? ![]() |

Set the value in prefs for: "Connect to network about every" to a very small value, (default is 0.1 days), and then don't fiddle with the settings. BOINC might take a while to work things out, (such as how long the computer is on each day, and how much of this time it gets to run, etc), but in a few weeks it will sort out a work schedule for itself. (Weeks because you've included cpdn.) If you keep fiddling with settings, you'll just make it worse. |

Thanks for your quick answer... i've tried this before, actually my connection time is 0.0001 days (it asks now for 9 secs WUs) because i'm always connected to the net. I've tried also 0.01 and 0.001 but, as i said before, still has this problem. Will wait some time to see how things will go. Best regards ![]() |

What projects are you running. A few of them have very short deadlines (Tampaku comes to mind) and will always send you into EDF. It's not an error state, it's just BOINCs way of saying "I'm not sure if I'll finish this on time so I'm going to do it exclusively." Kathryn :o) |

What projects are you running. Yes, XtremLabs too... but it seems to me (Only my humble opinion as a programmer, didn't see the code, so maybe i'm wrong) that the calculation method for guessing the time of completing each project has something wrong. I will see the code when i'll have time. Best regards ![]() |
